Online Programs Advance in Rankings

NC State's online master's programs in engineering, information technology, business and education score among the best in the nation on an annual survey by U.S. News. An online bachelor's degree program jumps 19 spots.

Three online degree programs at NC State scored in the top 15 nationwide in rankings published by U.S. News & World Report Tuesday.

The annual survey measures factors such as student engagement, services and technologies, faculty credentials and expert opinions. U.S. News ranked more than 1,600 online programs this year.

NC State’s online master’s programs in engineering ranked seventh overall, an improvement of one spot over last year. NC State’s Jenkins Online MBA program ranked 15th, as did the university’s online master’s program in computer information technology.

Among engineering specialties, several online master’s programs ranked in the top 10: civil engineering ranked second; electrical engineering, fifth; mechanical engineering, sixth; and industrial engineering, seventh.

Overall, online master’s programs in education ranked 31st. Within education, NC State’s online master’s in instructional media programs ranked 10th, and the online master’s in curriculum and instruction programs ranked 15th.
