North Carolina State University welcomes returning and new students and their families Aug. 17-19 for move-in days as it prepares to begin its fall semester \u2013 and a new academic year \u2013 on Wednesday, Aug. 22.<\/p>\n
An expected first-year class of 4,889 \u2013 the largest freshman class in North Carolina and the largest in NC State history \u2013 will become part of the approximately 35,000 students enrolled for classes.<\/p>\n
NC State\u2019s expected first-year class includes 229 valedictorians and salutatorians, averaged 1320 on the SAT and 29.3 on the ACT, and had a weighted high school grade point average of 4.59 and an unweighted grade point average of 3.76.<\/p>\n
About 48 percent of the expected freshmen were in the top 10 percent of their high school class, and 77 percent were in the top 20 percent. The class includes students from 95 North Carolina counties, 38 states and 23 countries.<\/p>\n
NC State is also expected to enroll its largest transfer student class, with 1,333 joining the Wolfpack. Fifty-six percent hail from North Carolina community colleges.<\/p>\n
Engineering, exploratory studies, life sciences, business and animal science are the five highest enrolled programs by first-year students.<\/p>\n
